Speaking On Rural Healthcare
The Medical Center of Elberton was recently invited to speak on rural healthcare at Shiloh Baptist Church! Thank-you so much for the opportunity!

TMCE Participates in KidsABC
The Medical Center of Elberton was selected to participate in the Kids Alliance for Better Care (KidsABC), a collaboration of Mercer University School of Medicine, its Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
A telehealth cart was delivered to the office to help assist with diagnostics and subspecialists consultations.
Soon, telehealth services — right here in the office — will allow children to receive specialized care without traveling away from their home county.

TMCE Unrolls New Patient Wait Times App
The Medical Center of Elberton will now be utilizing a new tool to help with patient wait times. It's called WaitWell.
WaitWell will allow you to check in to be seen from wherever you are. The easiest way is to download the completely FREE WaitWell app to your phone.
The app will tell you our current wait time and will send you a text message when we are ready for you to begin to come to our office.

Poon Achieves AAFP Degree of Fellowship
Jonathan Poon, MD has achieved the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national medical association representing nearly 127,600 family physicians, residents and medical students. Established in 1971, the AAFP Degree of Fellow recognizes family physicians who have distinguished themselves through service to family medicine and ongoing professional development. This year’s fellowship class brings the total number of AAFP Fellows to more than 18,000 nationwide. AAFP Fellowship entitles the physician to use the honorary designation, Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Criteria for receiving the AAFP Degree of Fellow consist of a minimum of six years of membership in the organization, extensive continuing medical education, participation in public service programs outside medical practice, conducting original research and serving as a teacher in family medicine. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Poon on this accomplishment!

They received the 2018 Exemplary Teaching Award for Demonstrating Excellence in Medical Education. The awards are given out based on student evaluations, and the top 5% of faculty are recognized for their excellence.
We are so lucky to have great physicians in this community to serve our patients and wonderful leaders teaching the future doctors of America!

ECCHS sponsored a physical day for all Special Olympic Athletes with the help of Dr. Dan McAvoy, Lindsey G. Williams, Felecia Downer and Connie Andrews. Brewed Blessings Coffee Shop provided games and treats for the athletes. Elbert County Special Olympics competed in the Area 5 Basketball tournament, Bowling, and Track and Field.
