The Medical Center of Elberton will now be utilizing a new tool to help with patient wait times. It's called WaitWell.

WaitWell will allow you to check in to be seen from wherever you are. The easiest way is to download the completely FREE WaitWell app to your phone. 

The app will tell you our current wait time and will send you a text message when we are ready for you to begin to come to our office.

Jonathan Poon, MD has achieved the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national medical association representing nearly 127,600 family physicians, residents and medical students. Established in 1971, the AAFP Degree of Fellow recognizes family physicians who have distinguished themselves through service to family medicine and ongoing professional development. This year’s fellowship class brings the total number of AAFP Fellows to more than 18,000 nationwide. AAFP Fellowship entitles the physician to use the honorary designation, Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Criteria for receiving the AAFP Degree of Fellow consist of a minimum of six years of membership in the organization, extensive continuing medical education, participation in public service programs outside medical practice, conducting original research and serving as a teacher in family medicine. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Poon on this accomplishment!

The number that people are getting calls from is 706-666-4512. Please note, this is NOT The Medical Center. At this time we would like to announce the upcoming retirement of Dr. David Mize effective October 27, 2023. We want to express our gratitude to Dr. Mize for his 40 years of service to this office and community! March 30 is National Doctors' Day and usually we have a luncheon and a celebration for our doctors, but this year it is different. There is no time for Doctors to receive their well earned “pat on the back” due to the COVID-19 outbreak. So instead we ask that everyone stop and say a prayer for Doctors across the globe. We love our doctors and we couldn’t do it without you! To real heroes right now, Happy Doctors' Day!

Congratulations to Elbert Memorial Hospital on the grand opening of Elbert Memorial Hospital Clyde and Jean Adams Building! We are very proud of all the hard work that was put into this building! 

The physicians of The Medical Center are the recipients of a prestigious award from the Medical College of Georgia!

They received the 2018 Exemplary Teaching Award for Demonstrating Excellence in Medical Education. The awards are given out based on student evaluations, and the top 5% of faculty are recognized for their excellence.

We are so lucky to have great physicians in this community to serve our patients and wonderful leaders teaching the future doctors of America!

ECCHS sponsored a physical day for all Special Olympic Athletes with the help of Dr. Dan McAvoy, Lindsey G. Williams, Felecia Downer and Connie Andrews. Brewed Blessings Coffee Shop provided games and treats for the athletes. Elbert County Special Olympics competed in the Area 5 Basketball tournament, Bowling, and Track and Field. 
 

The Medical Center hosted a Health & Wellness Fair for the community on October 20, 2018. All the proceeds went to Connor Johnson.
